Press Release: Intertech Foundation Awards 2017 STEM Scholarship

Recipient Logan Woock plans to continue studying computer science at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD)

St. Paul, Minn.—May 16th, 2017—Logan Woock has been selected by the Intertech Foundation board of directors to receive its $2,500 STEM scholarship for use in 2017-18. Woock studies computer science at UMD and seeks to grow and challenge himself as a developer.

“I am motivated to participate in interesting and purposeful new activities, some of which get me out of my ‘comfort zone,’" says Woock in his winning scholarship application.

Intertech Foundation President Tom Salonek said Logan’s application stood out for many of the same reasons they choose to hire certain people over other equally technically qualified applicants at Intertech.

"Not only is he whip smart, he understands the importance of continually learning and growing in new ways. He’s also well-rounded in his interests and believes in giving back.” Salonek said.

About the Intertech Foundation STEM Scholarship

One important area of focus for the Intertech Foundation is inspiring young people to build science, engineering and technology skills. To further that pursuit, the Foundation created its STEM college scholarship for students interested in pursuing careers as professional software developers. This opportunity is aimed at current college students or college-bound high school seniors who have excelled in the areas of math and science, to pursue college studies in the area of computer science.

This non-renewable scholarship (only awarded for one year to any scholarship recipient) is in the amount of $2,500.

To be eligible for consideration, the student must possess:

  • Cumulative high school or college GPA of 3.3 or better
  • An intent to study computer science
  • Currently enrolled at or accepted to an accredited college or university within the U.S. (not required at time of application)

The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum of 3.3 GPA during the first semester to receive the second payment. See more information about the Intertech Foundation STEM scholarship, including application details and deadlines.
