Press Release: Intertech Foundation Announces New College STEM Scholarship

$2,500 award will be granted to an outstanding college-bound high student interested in studying computer science at a U.S. college or university

ST. PAUL, MN—Sept. 6, 2014—Intertech Foundation President Tom Salonek today announced a new $2,500 scholarship for U.S. high school students intending to study computer science at an accredited U.S. college or university. Intertech Foundation will begin accepting scholarship applications from eligible high school seniors in January 2015. The first Intertech Foundation scholarship will be awarded for use during a student’s freshman year of study, beginning in fall 2015.

Criteria for scholarship consideration includes a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 or better, intent to study computer science and acceptance at an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants may find all application details, criteria and deadlines on our STEM Scholarship page.

“Intertech Foundation added support of STEM-based education and related activities, such as the FIRST Robotics program, to its giving focus earlier in 2014,” said Salonek. “We hope to encourage bright students in the U.S. to study math and science and to pursue technology careers. Our new college scholarship will provide financial support for a qualified student who may not otherwise have considered a computer science major.”

Intertech Foundation grants totaling $5,000 were given to qualified non-profit organizations in support of FIRST Robotics teams across the United States in 2014.
