Intertech is a leading Twin Cities based software development consulting firm and the largest software developer training company in Minnesota. Local entrepreneur Tom Salonek founded the company in 1991.

Intertech designs and develops software solutions for state government and mid-sized corporations. The company also creates pre-packaged software that powers Fortune 500 businesses, as well as systems for state government. Intertech works with NASA, Wells Fargo, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft and Intel and other major companies around the United States helping them learn and use technology.

Intertechʼs technical team frequently publishes books in the Intertech Instructor Series through a partnership with Apress in Berkley, California. The Intertech Instructor Series includes best-selling technology training books on and at Barnes and Noble.


A typical Intertech engagement involves leadership in thought, process, and teams. Tom Salonek - CEO and Founder

Mr. Salonek was named one of Minnesotaʼs Top Business Leaders under 40. Intertech has been named twice to INC 500ʼs list of fastest growing companies, and is also a seven-time winner of the Business Journalʼs Best Places to Work award. In 2003, he founded the Intertech Foundation to financially assist families with critically ill children.
He has completed executive education at the Harvard School of Business and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a past instructor at the University of St. Thomas Management Center. He holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of St. Thomas. Salonek has written more than 50 articles on business, leadership and technology, and is the author of the book Building a Winning Business.

Ryan McCabe - Partner and Vice President of Consulting Sales

Mr. McCabe has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas and has completed executive education at the Harvard School of Business. Under his leadership, Intertech has earned local and national recognition for sales growth. This has included recognition by Inc. as one of the 500 fastest-growing firms in America, by Forbes Magazine as one of the 500 fastest-growing technology firms in America, and The Business Journal as one of the 50 fastest-growing firms in Minnesota.

Mr. Brenner earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and has completed executive education at the Harvard School of Business. Prior to Intertech, he held finance-related positions with Best Buy, Hewlett-Packard and Northwest Airlines.

Tom Helvick - Director of Operations

Tom Helvick brings over 25 years of IT development and management experience to his Director of Operations role at Intertech. He has oversight of the over 90 information technology professionals in Intertech’s consulting operation.
Mr. Helvick has experience with leading teams, coaching, consulting practices, managing large development organizations, developing best practices, service offering creation, and delivery, vendor evaluation, independent verification and validation of work products. These experiences are built up from working at Deloitte Consulting, Ceridian, GMAC-ResCap, Wolters Kluwer touching the Public Sector, Financial, HCM, Payroll, IAM and Consulting industries.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Minnesota and has completed executive education at Harvard School of Business.


In 2003, Intertech, Inc. formed the Intertech Foundation, a nonprofit (501) private foundation for the provision of financial support to families of terminally ill children. Tom Salonek, his wife Linda, and Intertech partner Ryan McCabe comprise the Intertech Foundation board. Its charter calls for grants to be presented to Minnesota families who need financial assistance to fulfill last wishes, as well as help with costs associated with hospitalization, respite care, and other considerations.

Since 2003, Intertech has contributed over $175,000 to the Intertech Foundation. The Intertech Foundation works with Crescent Cove located in Minneapolis, MN in making grants to families with terminally ill children.
