As a member of the Scrum Alliance, Intertech's Scrum consulting practice is dedicated to the proper implementation and practice of the Srum methodology.  Below is a comprehensive list of how our Scrum consultants will work with your team:

  • Understand the benefits of Scrum, Scrum values, principles, and how to present a business case for Scrum
  • Leverage field proven approaches for handling issues with Scrum including items like how to handle incorrect plans, how to keep plan options open until the last moment, and how to adapt and re-plan when changes occur
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities for the product owner, Scrum master, and Scrum member.  For the Product Owner share principal responsibilities, product backlog, and best practices for collaborating with the development team and stakeholder
  • Execute sprints with best practices including daily Scrum, stories, prioritization, and data/gathering stats to define health
  • Implement sprint planning including timing, participants, process, two-part vs. one-part sprint planning, and determining capacity
  • Use sprint reviews including determining who to invite, how to confirm the Sprint is finished, and how to prepare for the demonstration
  • Refactor Scrum via the Sprint retrospective including evaluating the Participants, pre-work, and the retrospective focus
  • Understand Scrum artifacts including Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Burn Charts--Release Burn Down Chart, Sprint Burn Down Chart, and Burn Up Chart
  • Understand the Release Flow Management and Sprint Flow Management
  • Implement, for large products, hierarchical backlogs and, for multiple teams, a single product backlog
  • Estimate story sizes and velocity including how to do effective team estimation and planning poker, portfolio backlog item estimates, product backlog estimates, and task estimates
  • Understand estimating as a team, accuracy versus precision, relative size estimation, and forecasting velocity
  • Learn the cost of “technical debt” including product atrophy, decreased predictability, underperformance, attempts to falsely accelerate velocity, and manage the “accrual” of technical debt at a business and/or technical level.  Service technical debt including knowing what debt should be repaid, paying incrementally, paying high-interest first, and repay while performing
  • Understand User Personas, Primary Persona, Negative Persona, and Example Persona
  • Understand the role of Feature Teams versus Component Teams and/or Multiple-Team coordination
  • Know the role for managers including fashioning teams, defining boundaries, providing clear goal evaluation, changing teams, and tips for empowering teams including promoting agile values, aligning groups/partners, and managing value-creation flow
  • Define requirements with story mapping including conversations, user stories with cards, conversations, and confirmation along with understanding the role of Nonfunctional Requirements
  • Implement multilevel planning including portfolio planning, product planning (envisioning), vision, high-level product backlog, product roadmap, release planning, sprint planning, and daily planning
  • Implement Portfolio Planning with timing, participants, and process. 
  • Implement Release Planning with coverage of Timing, Participants, Process, Release Constraints, fixed scope/date, Variable Quality, Minimum Releasable Features (MRFs), Sprint Mapping (PBI Slotting), and Fixed-Date Release Planning
  • Use standards for project implementation including Code Names, Mission Statements, Vision Statements, Business Value, Metrics, Milestones, Resources, and Risks
  • Understand and implement guidelines for refactoring
